We have more than 100 organic products in our range and most of our yarn-dyed products are organically dyed. The waste water is also purified biologically and recycled when dyeing the textiles.
For us at Classic Textile of Sweden, environmental and social issues have been important since the beginning. Our aim is to sell home and lifestyle products of good quality at the right price and at the same time cause as little negative impact on the environment and people as possible.
We want to be part of sustainable development and to do this we constantly ask ourselves what we can do better, without compromising on quality and design. Therefore, we try to produce as much as possible with organic cotton and dye with organic dyes.
In Karur in southern India is our partner Balaji Krishnamurthy and his factory Danesh Home Fashions. Our CEO Jan Franck and Balaji have known each other for many years and they have worked together to develop and improve manufacturing methods to become more sustainable, both environmentally and socially.
In 2004, an active transition to environmentally friendly dyeing of all yarns began, where the waste water is partially biologically purified and then reused. Biological here means that cow dung is added to the wastewater. The bacteria digest the chemicals and then sink to the bottom.
This is an important part of the work because the manufacturing takes place in a part of the world where the availability of clean water cannot be taken for granted. Seeing that it is possible to create change as long as the will is there has inspired us to continue to keep these issues central, not only for what we do today but also for what we can do better tomorrow.
Nano-free water purification. Bacteria in the cow dung digest the chemicals that then sink to the bottom where the sludge is taken care of. The purified water still contains a certain amount of salt. Most of this water is reused for new dyeing, where salt is actually needed, the rest is transported to a "solar bed" where the water evaporates and the salt is taken care of.
As a brand, we are quite young, we started as recently as 2011. But thanks to wealthy experience in the textile industry, we have managed to establish ourselves relatively quickly on the Swedish market. During 2013, establishment was also started in Finland and Germany. We also have our own store, ‘Pastelhörnan’ in Mariefred, Sweden. Come visit us or one of our resellers and let yourself be inspired!
